POP | X Partners with Ashley Furniture & Samsung SmartThings in First-of-its-Kind Connected Home Retail Experience

Objective

POP | X was entrusted with creating an immersive, personalized in-store experience for the Ashley Samsung Connected Home store concept, aligning seamlessly with the “This is Home. Connected.” campaign. This groundbreaking concept blends Ashley’s legacy in home furnishings with Samsung’s cutting-edge smart home technology, elevating the in-store experience beyond traditional furniture shopping. Our role encompassed a holistic approach, from store build-out to developing an interactive customer journey experience, in-store experiential elements, and multi-touchpoint digital activations. This ambitious project positions Ashley DSG at the forefront of connected retail, integrating smart home technology with home decor in an experience that goes beyond functionality to resonate emotionally with customers.

Fabrication

POP | X designed 11 vignettes that reflect customers’ real-life settings, highlighting how Ashley’s products and Samsung’s technology come together to form a connected, cohesive home.
POP | X crafted and executed an accessible, visually appealing store layout of four experience zones – Welcome Home, Motion, Rest & Recharge, and The Ashley Lounge – each tailored to appeal to specific needs, from Welcome Home’s focus on entertaining, to Motion’s cinema-like escapism, and Rest & Recharge oasis of relaxation and personalization. Additionally, we developed a strategy for 20 auxiliary screens with curated, artful digital content ideas that meet customers at each phase of their shopping journey, bringing the story to life. Interactive kiosks in each of the vignettes allow customers to adjust settings, colors, and scenes, creating a dynamic, lifestyle-driven experience and demonstrating real-time functionality of Ashley and Samsung products working synergistically.

Activation

Curating the Customer Journey Experience

At every touchpoint, POP | X ensured a seamless customer journey, allowing visitors to engage with smart home technology and furnishings in an intuitive, engaging manner through custom-built kiosks that helped activate the technology and allow customers to customize their experience. Auxiliary screens display personalized content, guiding customers toward creating their ideal home environment, uniquely blending the functionality of a showroom with the intimacy of a home setting.

Design

POP | X designed and directed three short films displayed in-store, each film telling an intimate story of connection and comfort, demonstrating the power of a connected home to enhance moments of joy, entertainment, and relaxation. These films are designed to resonate with customers by speaking to Ashley’s sense of warmth, value, and style, while subtly incorporating Samsung’s commitment to innovation and connectivity, all while keeping the brand identity and voice — Simple, Warm, Emotional, and Real — present throughout.
